Eat Your Vegetables
The U.S. government govemment showed even less sense than common and respected the French
rotisserie
industry. Solidified French fries—cut, seared in oil, and after that bundled—have been affirmed as
"new vegetables" by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The French fiy industry has been approaching the USDA for a considerable length of time to get this endorsement. They said
that their item is like cucumbers that have wax on them. They contended that they utilize 100
percent vegetable oil, which is much more advantageous for shoppers than plain wax.
Most purchasers, obviously, tend to disagree. "You can't be serious," said Annie, 50. "By what method would you be able to
think an item that is broiled in oil is a new vegetable? Regardless of the possibility that I cooked broccoli, I could no
longer call it crisp broccoli—it's cooked! I want to be a major organization, so my congressman
would help me. Lamentably, I'm just a national."
The USDA protected its choice and said that potatoes evidently are vegetables. In spite of the fact that
French fries are fricasseed in oil, they are still potatoes. "In the event that you let them sit on your counter for a
couple of weeks," a USDA representative said, "the fries will decay simply like all other new
vegetables".
Customers said the USDA completely put some distance between general society. "They'd most likely say that
eggshells are sound if an organization asked them to," said one buyer.
